Inter-Library Loans
If you are looking for materials that Pearisburg Public Library does not own, we can request items from other systems on your behalf. Each system’s ILL policies are different. Most systems will not ILL new items, CDs or DVDs. Patrons requesting ILLs must be in good standing. There is a $3 fee per item and payment is expected when the ILL request is fulfilled.
Library Cards
Library cards are issued to all residents age 5 and over. Parents or legal guardians must endorse membership for children under 16 years of age by signing the child’s application card. By signing, the parent or guardian assumes the responsibility for return of any library materials checked out by the child. The parent or guardian is liable for payment of any fines or charges incurred by the child. They also assume the responsibility of seeing that the child abides by the rules of the library.
To obtain a library card, an ID such as a driver’s license is required for verification of current address. Library cards must be presented for circulation materials.
NRPL COOP – (New River Public Library Cooperative)
A NRPL COOP library card is available to be used at each of the following libraries: Pearisburg, Narrows, Radford, Pulaski, Dublin, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Shawsville, Craig and Floyd.
Lost or Damaged Materials
Patrons who do not return library materials will be charged the full replacement cost. Patrons returning library materials in an irreparable condition will be charged a full replacement cost. The materials then belong to the patron.
Refunds
If a patron believes they have lost library material, the circulation policy allows six weeks from the original check=out date to look for and find the lost item before payment will be requested. Once payment has been made for a lost item, there will not be a refund. If the item is eventually found, it belongs to the patron. However, the patron may consequently donate the item back t the library if they wish.
