Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why can’t I make an appointment to browse for books?
For the safety of patrons and staff, library service is currently offered through curbside pickup for library materials and computer/copy/fax service by appointment.
While computer service is not easily provided curbside, checking out library materials through curbside is an simple way to increase safety measures for patrons and staff.
Patrons may search the library catalog at the link below or call the library at (540) 921-2556 and staff will assist in finding you the perfect material.
I know someone brought back the book I want, why do I have to wait for my books?
As things are returned, they are quarantined for 72 hours (movies for 7 days) before recirculating. This is to ensure the safety of you and your favorite library staff. We promise that we will get that book or movie to you – it may just take a little longer.
These timelines are based on results from the Battelle study on library materials.
Do I have to wear a mask to use the library?
The Amended Commonwealth of Virginia Executive Order 63 requires that anyone over the age of 5 wear a face covering in public buildings.
If you are unable to wear a mask for any reason, we are happy to assist you via curbside service.
I couldn’t return my books because the book drops were closed. Do I owe a fine?
Nope! If your books were due on or after March 17 (when we closed to the public), you will not be charged in overdue fines.
Finally, if you are sick, or think you might be sick, we ask that you visit us when you are well.
